Fortetropin (the ingredient in MYOS) is clinically proven to build muscle and reduce muscle loss. MYOS helps to maintain muscle in aging pets as well as pets recovering from injuries.
There is promising research done on the role of Fortetropin in combatting PRA and cognitive dysfunction in dogs.
I've been a huge fan of MYOS canine muscle formula since I started using it almost three years ago for my 13 y.o. Border Collie, Currie. I saw a big change in her gaining more muscle during active months as well as maintaining muscle as she aged. I think consistent hiking and regularly using Myos played a role in her winning a local ISC event/finishing top 10 (Biathlon) at the 2021 US Open at the age of 12.

Currie stays active at 13 years. She hikes regularly and demos agility foundations for video tutorials for The Spotted Wonder dog training.
My young sheltie, Strider has also benefited greatly from MYOS. In June 2021 he was diagnosed with a partial CCL tear. He has shown great strides in the rest/rehab process and is beginning to sequence agility again.
I believe MYOS has played an important role in helping Strider maintain muscle (to support his joints) throughout the injury and recovery.
Definitely check out the MYOS blog section on their website (under the about section) to learn more about the many more benefits MYOS has to offer.

A joint supplement that I feel has helped to further support my dogs mobility in a beneficial way is 1 TDC. I don't think Currie would still be doing agility at 12 years old, still finishing top 10 in the nation, if it weren't for 1 TDC. I'm very grateful that 1TDC has helped to give us more years together as an agility team.
In clinical studies, 1TDC improved mobility and general disposition in dogs struggling with arthritis. This supplement has been shown to improve knee function in pets with Osteoarthritis.
Additionally, 1 TDC has been shown to be effective in controlling progression of periodontal disease.

My go to website for training books/dvds and all kinds of great dog toys and training gear is clean run. For over a decade I've been a huge fan of their products (especially their tugs). In the last few years I've been even more blown away by the selection of amazing tug toys and food stuffable toys available.
Long fuzzy chaser toys are excellent for building motivation in puppies and young dogs but can also be an amazing mode of rewarding for more experienced dogs.
Food stuffable toys like the lotus ball, treat hugger, or fuzzy pouches are great for building motivation for dogs that prefer food over tug/chase toys. These toys can also help you to encourage more interactive play/games making the way you reinforce your dog in dog sports EVEN MORE exciting.
Of course clean run magazine is an incredible way to further your knowledge for agility. The (online) magazine has wonderful articles and training exercises published by the top trainers and competitors in the sport.

A strong foundation in obedience with distractions present (like other dogs and people) is very important before beginning agility. This is a pre requisite for all agility classes. Any class or workshop with "Foundations" in the title will be the best fit for most dogs and handlers new to agility that have had obedience training. Always read the "pre-requisite" to be sure. A private lesson can also be a great way to assess which future class or workshop is the best fit for your dog. Some agility specific foundation can begin as young as 5 or 6 months for puppies, but you need to make sure training is age appropriate based on when your puppies growth plates close.
Classes are offered on most Mondays. Class sessions are usually 4 weeks in length. During various times of the year, classes may also be offered on Sundays. Workshops are offered 1 to 2 weekends a month in NC. Check the Classes/Workshops section of the website to learn about upcoming training opportunities/locations.
Cost will be listed under the Classes/Workshops section of the website. Prices vary based on the length of time of the lesson/class/workshop and also the facility location.
