Ashley has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the sport of Agility. She has been involved in the sport for a total of 22 years and has trained/handled a variety of dog breeds.
She is always eager to learn more about dog training techniques and agility handling. She has studied under a number of top level agility coaches and dog training professionals: Natalie (Lewis) Mauchmar, Ronda Carter, Tracy Riley, Brian Ferrand, Dudley Shumate, Kathy Keats, Karen Holik, Melanie Miller, Laurren Bastian, Ashley Castro, Britney Collins-Imhof, Lynne Stephens, Anna Eifert, Tuulia Liuhto (with OMD), Nina Gregl (Running Contacts), Anna Hinze (Running Contacts), Enya Habel (online training), Tamas Traj, Lee Gibson and Svetlana Tumanova.
Ashley also furthers her knowledge through other resources (online/books/video) -
Agility University, Fenzi Dog Sports, Karen Pryor Academy, One Mind Dogs, Susan Garrett, Daisy Peel's Agility Challenge, Clean Run magazine, Bad Dog Agility, Linda Mecklenburg, Susan Salo and Sylvia Trrkman.
In the competition ring she is a medalist in multiple UKI Classic, Festival and ICE events and at the 2019 UKI National Championship Final Ashley and her Border Collie, Currie (The Spotted Wonder) earned the bronze medal. She has been a UKI National Finalist 14 times with three different dogs and has finished in the top 5, ten times. Currie ended her Championships career by finishing 9th overall in the 2021 UKI Biathlon National Final. Ashley and Currie have also finished 6 Championship titles across two organizations (USDAA and UKI). Not to be left out her current competition dog, a shetland sheepdog named Strider, earned 1st overall in the Last Chance Masters Series at the 2024 UKI US Open. Her and Strider have recieved 1st-3rd placements in ISC cups, the UKI "Wish upon a star" SE Classic , UKI Mountain Madness Festivals and the Fire and Ice UKI ICE tournament. Strider and Ashley also finished in 4th place in the 2023 UKI US Open Biathlon Final and the Masters series jumping final. Strider and Ashley also had the honor of winning an invite two years in a row for the North American Invitational based on results from the 2023 and 2024 US Open Championships.
Ashley is dedicated to helping teams develop a concise language together. She believes there is no one size fits all to training and handling agility. Ashley strives to meet the dog/handler team where they are in the moment and works towards helping them expand their abilities upwards. With her 12 plus years of experience instructing and coaching she has experience working with a wide variety of handler and dogs with varying experience levels.
Seminars are typically 3 to 4 hours in length with a wide range of topics (foundations, handling, connection, contact/weave training, discriminations, either/or, obstacle independence, course analysis, strategy, Nationals event prep, "International" skills/handlling/ coursework, distance training, directionals/verbals, and more)
Ashley has availability several times a year to teach a weekend of seminars at your facility.
